I'm glad you have told me Ethel, I moved down to Cornwall not that long ago and Tiger rolls are very popular - not with me though, the smell makes me feel sick.

I think they coat the top of the bread in sunflower oil.

The top of the loaf is coated with rice paste - which is why some people find it a bit sickly.

Does make it nice and crispy though.
