Why do people put frozen peas on lumps or swollen parts of their body? I understand why we use something that is cold or frozen, but why peas? Does anybody know? Thanks

I would think because a bag of peas is flexible rather than a flat solid cold object, so you can lay it round your knee, etc. and not put too much pressure on the injury.

Sprouts, sweede, sweetcorn, cabbage etc etc etc will do equally as well.....as long as it's frozen

Remember next time you sprain your ankle....R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)

Alternatively, NICER ( as above plus non-steroidal anti-inflammatories). Peas are best, but if you've partially defrosted them, don't re-freeze and eat!
