My Avocados Are Almost As Hard As Rocks.
So it's going to be toast on its own for breakfast this morning.
How long will it take for them to ripen?

I have tried them, Atheist. That’s how I know they’re ghastly! I think a pink snake might taste better" π€£

I had one once, barry, in Edinburgh of all places (I was led to believe that Edinburgh was a little more refined than Glasgow, where that culinary delight was said to have its origins). It was bleeding awful!. The chocolate on the outside of the Mars bar melts and amalgamates with the batter whilst it’s cooking, so it looks dark brown. Here’s a recipe:

That picture looks bad enough but mine looked nothing like that. The inside of the Mars bar seems to undergo some sort of alchemy which turns it into a single gooey mess, rather than the two distinct elements of he “raw” variety. But with a conglomeration of batter, chocolate, caramel and nougat It tastes as bad as it looks. But it’s still better than avocado on toast! π
This thread made me investigate the veg. box of my fridge. I'd bought an avocado some time ago. On examination, the little sticky lable says 'Use by 3/7'. It seems to be ripe and soft around the ends, so I've made a simple prawn in rose-marie sauce to pop into the holes in it for dinner tonight. Fingers crossed.
I should add that it is rare these days that I buy avocados, I used to eat a lot more of them, but I'm v. conscious of the lack of habitat the growers are causing so it's probably half-a-dozen a year now.
you don't necessarily have to choose between avocados and chocolate bars, you know
