Haven't had one of these cocktails for ages and ages but just fancied one when I came across a bottle of Crabbies ginger beer lingering in the garage.

OMG, that's now my go to drink for the winter. If you've never tried it, do so, it's lovely 🍸

For me  dark rum ginger wine honey and hot water

Or chilli vodka and grapefruit juice.

Yes, love it. This year I'm going to freeze some lime juice into 50 ml ice cubes using a juicer, to save time and mess every time ...

Got to be Goslings Black seal dark rum though. The distillery put a patent on the title and have sued other dark rum distillers. Got to be Ginger beer as well for authenticity. I prefer Pussers Gunpowder Proof meself

I like brewdog 500 cuts rum with Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer and the juice of half a lime.

I buy limes in bulk at Costco, quarter them and freeze them so we're never without 🍸

Sounds like a good plan. A real sea dogs drink.Keeps the scurvy at bay and gives you a glow.

It always used to be rum but these days you can have a dark and stormy with whiskey

Question Author

Not a great fan of whiskey, red, always smells and tastes of rubber to me

Or Vodka even.

Question Author

That's a Mosco Mule isn't it, with vodka?

I've not had ginger beer or ginger wine in ages...combined with whiskey 😍...is that the same/similar as a whiskey Mac? I used to drink them a lot.

Have gone off Scotch for some reason but like Irish. I think Irish is triple distilled and imo is not so harsh tasting.

Peat distilled Whisky scunners me

After reading your post, Vagus, I think that I might need to get some Stone's ginger wine in for Christas ;-)

^^^^that's the one Chris!

Try Japanese whisky, if you're off Scotch. Nikka is very good. 🥃

Whiskey Mac with Stones was my mum's favourite Christmas tipple. Unfortunately she drank the Stones with Teachers. I have had a couple of cases in the garage and am slowly giving them away to tradesmen or any one who will take it

Question Author

It was my dads, retro, he wasn't a drinker at all but did enjoy one of those at Christmas.

It's ages since I had a dark and stormy but I think I'll resist. A couple of summers ago you started a thread about pina coladas that got me imagining sitting in the sun with one. I bought the rum, creamed coconut and pineapple juice and the weather immediately turned cool and wet ☔️ The bottle of rum is still sitting unopened in a cupboard 🍹

19:20 and 19:23...I picked up the habit from my late mother in law. First Stones...then the strong stuff. Well, they were living in Scotland at the time.

Question Author

Oh toorak, that's a shame 😕

The only whiskey I like is the strong peaty ones.
