I bought the above yesterday and hubby helping me to put shopping away put these in the freezer.
Found out as I was looking for them to have with our coffee. They are frozen solid & defrosting.
It states on packet not suitable for freezing so would you eat them once defrosted????

I would check they haven’t curdled and then pop them in the oven and warm up
Yes, probably. I'd think the no freezing advice is because the texture of the custard will change...ie seperate. Just eat straight away.
Yes but the texture will not be as good as the defrosted custard will have made the pastry soggy
It is most likely that the texture has been affected, so they might not be as pleasant to eat as fresh ones but they won't be "dangerous", make you ill or taste nasty.

If you read abit further down it suggests warming them may help to restore the texture
I cannot get my brain around someone being able to resist the temptation to eat custard tarts immediately and have the strength of mind to freeze them for later.

My wife makes lovely big egg custard tarts, much better than any you can buy in the shop.
Sharon - all is forgiven. Just don't him do it again.

I am fuming as I was so looking forward to them!
Thanks for all your tips. Will be warming them up gently once defrosted.
If you like custard tarts and haven't tried the Portugese variety (Pasteis de Nata), do try them. Every time I go into Waitrose, I can't resist getting some. Bit pricey but worth it!

Oh ginge, they are my faves. Occasionally I go into my local Lidl to buy them.
Oh God yes, I'd eat them!
My mum used to make large custard tarts and also just egg custards in a Pyrex did for my Dad who loved them. Most people do. I hate egg custard.
