I’m referring to Nigella last night who said she finds carrots cut into rounds depressing, she always cuts them into batons.
As ridiculous as it sounds, I absolutely agree with her. I hate carrots cut into rounds, I think they taste bleurrgh, mine are always in batons.

Carrots are carrots are carrots. I don't mind how they come
My home-grown carrots are delicious whichever way they're cut.
I should have added so long as it's not animated!
I smiled when she said it too, rounds seem so much like mass catering don't they?

I like batons as a side veg and diagonally cut chunks in a stew/casserole.

Maybe a throw back to school dinners mamy?
rounds say 70s/80s to me, batons say modern !

Mine get cut into slivers if they’re going in the pan with swede to be chopped up together though.
cold grated finely with a touch of sugar and lemon
It may be a school dinner thing yes, though to be fair I loved my school meals.
Try this for perfection (for carrotsw that are to be cooked).
Lay carrot on chopping board and cut across close to one end at 45 degrees to the long axis;
rotate carrot about its long axis through 45 degrees and cut across again at 45 degrees;
contimue until you reach other end of carrot, then stop and move onto next carrot.

It's easier than it sounds and gives carrot chunks in a fascinating shape (cf humbug or frozen jubbly)
I was brought up on rounds and knew no other. I only eat batons when they are raw.

Ooh nice, Johnny.
I loved school dinners too mamy, cheese pie with mash and baked beans was my favourite. No one else liked it so I’d eat the whole tables portions, all eight of them.
Correction. step two should read turn carrot through 90 degrees about its long axis.
I bet you all thought I was mad at first!!

I’ve done them like that sometimes when I do a root veg roast Atheist, I know exactly what you’re describing.
Has to be batons for raw carrots, or whole and just gnawed.
I still cant picture it atheist
Atheist,
what makes you think our opinion has changed? :-)
bednobs; see me later and I'll show you. I can stand behind you and guide your arms to do the right motions - you'll soon get the hang of it.
I can’t eat carrots cut in rounds, soggy outer and hard middle. Disgusting. I cut mine in half lengthwise and then chop into large chunks
