Just had a conversation with Just Eat about a local restaurant who we tried to get to deliver food. No, said the restaurant, we only do collections, not deliveries.

Asked Just Eat if this was 'on', as their adverts all say the opposite, and the person on Just Eat said 'Oh yes, some of our restaurants deliver, some only do collection'!

Amazing, ain't it. And I thought all those TV ads said something different....

Just eat are just the middle men they don't own the restaurants, the restaurants can make their own decisions over to deliver or not.
It's pretty clear on the site.
It is strange and annoying the way they work these things out.

My mum lives opposite the KFC, can see it from her window, but although they 'deliver' they don't to her postcode.

Maybe its because it's too near? Not worth them coming out? Not really sure.
It's nothing to do with Just Eat. They have nothing to do with the restaurants. They are just an advertising service.
exactly Ummm they are just the middle men - the ordering service
I've just looked at Just Eat for my area and some outlets provide delivery, others collection only. It is clearly stated on each listing
//we only do collections, not deliveries. //

What's collection in this context ?
You order it on just eat and and collect it yourself.
Just Eat have quite a lot to do with the restaurants. They install tracking software for one thing and the restaurants have to ensure they stay at 80 / 90% on the efficiency of delivery and quality of food. The managers have to liaise with Just Eat regularly to explain themselves if anything goes wrong. Just Eat will drop a restaurant no meeting their expectations.
The restaurants pay a lot of money to Just eat and if you try and leave them they make your life very difficult - our local Indian has asked his regulars not to order from Just eat anymore as he was losing too much money
On meant they have nothing to do with making and delivering the food.
Yes ummmm, they are much more than an advertising service as well.

Has no-one watched their TV adverts? “Order takeaway on line or by phone and it will be DELIVERED”!
I haven't noticed it saying it 'will' be delivered.

The majority of takeaways offer delivery anyway.

“Order in a take away, it’s just a few clicks away” - thaat’s what its website says.

Nothing about going and getting it...
Well some of the restaurants don't deliver.
Just Eat give the impression they are a channel to delivery service food. If that isn't 100% the case they should make that clear on their ads, or stand accused of lack of clarity bordering on deception.
If this has in anyway made a difference in your life , there is always the ASA.

That's what they're there for.
From their T&C's
4.5. Delivery of your Order: Estimated times for deliveries and collections are provided by the Restaurants and are only estimates. Neither we nor the Restaurants guarantee that Orders will be delivered or will be available for collection within the estimated times.
It makes it quite clear on the website that they are an intermediary!

Not sure if you’re talking about the same thing, ummm.
