As far as I can recall, in my 60-odd years on this planet, I've never made or received any home-made food gift.

However, if someone is offering, anything with ginger in it would be very welcome. (e.g. ginger preserve, ginger cookies, gingerbread men, ginger ice cream, etc).
Tablet, skittles vodka or homemade bailey's
Question Author
Hmmm, do have a good chilli jam recipe.

It's been a long while since I last made any Baileys lookylikey.

Tablet and fudge make me want to hurl as I do not have a sweet tooth and it makes it very difficult for me to taste. :-(
Thanks for asking Eccles. I'm still a bit wobbly, and lethargic. God knows what it is, just a virus with any luck.
I usually make homemade scones, buy a good strawberry jam and a large tub of 'Rodda's'. Always goes down well.
Like to make Welsh cakes on my Grandmother's bakestone
She had it before the First World War started

My neighbour makes wonderful chocolates every year for people. She also makes marzipan fruits which I LURVE. Marzipan is a love/hate item.. I fall into the former camp.... to which my expanding waistline will testify.
yes I would be delighted to know someone thought that much of me. would feel the same if I received home made cards. it means they have not only given their time but also thought and effort - part of them. a very generous gift.
My sister's Christmas cake, oozing with spirit.....
I'm with Chris..anything ginger..chutney..jam..fudge..tablet...cake...same with hand made cards...it demonstrates real friendship and thoughtfulness...
I would always appreciate a homemade gift, whether it be food or otherwise. Especially popular in our house would be savoury relishes and chutneys. Whole grain mustards and horseradish sauces, delicious.
