Has anyone got one of these or know anything about them? Eccles, have you come across one or used one?

I don't have one but have used them.

If space and money are no object then fine go for it, otherwise I really don't see the point of them.
Would a basket on top of a pot of simmering water not do the same job?

Thanks Eccles. No Sandy, not quite the same thing :)
If you are seriously thinking of getting one get a combination one as that will brown as well.

My SIL uses hers as a very expensive cupboard for roasting tins after the initial excitement wore off.

I'm looking at the Seimens one at the moment. There's very little info out there to support them, even the bloke in John Lewis seemed to be blagging his way through answers to questions I had for him. My friend has one but bought it to 'balance' her kitchen. My thinking is that I'm getting two single ovens, should I get the combi steam as one of them, if it does everything that a normal oven does with the bonus of steam as well.
I'd want a really good combi/microwave first - before thinking about the steam function.

That's another option I've been looking at as well. I do have the room to have three ovens and the budget. I wish there was somewhere that I could get completely independent advice without someone trying to flog me something. The thought of going into Currys gives me the right hump.

I'm really not enjoying this kitchen buying lark.
Just get one of these - stupidly expensive - but one of the best things I've ever bought.

Not a 'heat storage' Aga - it has 4 assorted electric ovens and 6 gas burners.

Great ovens, the best grill I've ever used and loads of stove-top burners/griddles.

Add a combi microwave somewhere else in the kitchen and you're sorted.

I would like a range style cooker but I've opted for the fitted ones as I have trouble bending down to get things out of the oven. It's a problem I don't see going away in the short term unfortunately.

Plus, it'd take me six months to pick which colour I liked best ;)
Get a man to do the heavy lifting :)

But, yes, my back says "you prat, get an eye-level oven" quite often ...

He won't be allowed anywhere near the ovens. When he does dinner, it's salad.
I have a range style cooker. If I redid my kitchen I'd def get an eye level one.

I think they're definitely easir to use. I going for an induction hob over gas this time as well, I really can't be doing with the mess of gas anymore.
I'd be tempted by Induction next time around too, for the reasons you've given.

Just bear in mind you'll be shouting at the hob for the first few weeks as it will think it is vastly more intelligent than you and will switch itself off, turn itself down and do all manner of things that you're not expecting.

Once you realise it's in charge you'll get along swimmingly :-)

Oh gawd, I'll have to retrain the kids.
I rented a house for a month that had one, by the end of my stay I had come up with some very, very creative streams of profanity!
Question Author
Lol, I've already got quite a large vocabulary of profanities, though, it's always good to have some new ones.
