As an easy meal with a few potatoes and a head of broccoli,I used to enjoy a tin of stewed steak of the top brands or any own brand of a super market and for some reason It was always carrying an official stamp saying produce of Brasil (a sort of official Govt stamp)( which was if I may say so in my opinion better than domestic beef) I have not seen this Brasilian stewed steak in any shop or supermarket for well over a year now. something is afoot. It must be something connected to the E.C. . Can anybody shed any light please ??

maybe withdrawn after the horsemeat scandal
Brazilian beef has been extremely expensive to produce due to to climatic conditions:

So importers are looking to other countries to supply the meat for tinned stewed steak. Try Kate's Kitchen Stewed Steak (from Romania) for £1.40 in Asda. (It's often hidden away on a lower shelf). I get through quite a few cans of it!
Lidl's do a version of this product not sure where it is from but very nice.
Ah yes, EU is definitely to blame...for the weather conditions in Brazil.
