I`ve just taken out some Jus Roll puff pastry from the freezer. It`s been in there since the beginning of January. I want to make a couple of things and there will be a lot left over which I don`t want to throw away. Would it be OK in the fridge until Sunday?

is it ready rolled ? Just cut off what you want and put the rest bag in the tight roll wrapper and seal the end , should be ok
I would think so. Make sure you wrap it well in cling-film.

Wotya making?

Thanks. I`m going to make 2 x salmon en croute (pretentious name)! and then I might make a really rich steak and mushroom pie with some sort of booze, either ale or red wine.
ooooh, delicious 237, just don't tell the ab'ers when your serving any of them, as you'll have a stampede :-)

If I make the pie with red wine, I can drink some of it myself :-)
Cut what you need and layer up the excess, don't scrunch it into a ball like you might shortcrust.....unless you don't mind ending up with flaky pastry.

It`s ready rolled so I have to thaw the whole lot to be able to unfurl it.
I use sherry in beef and mushroom pie its lovely . NO I don't drink sherry its for cooking.
Ok, defrost what you need and layer up the excess and wrap well before refrigerating.

BTW, be careful cooking puff at 160C Fan as you mentioned the other day. If you cook puff at too low a temperature the butter 'leaks' out from the layers before the flour layers cook. Puff needs a high temperature to set it, then you can turn the temp down if necessary.

Thanks Eccles. I wouldn`t have known that.
Happy to help, enjoy your salmon en croute :-)
She's handy, isn't she :-)
Why do you all think I'm just a pretty face? ;-)
Yes should be ok in fridge.
Cut off what you need while the pastry is still pretty cold, then stick the rest in the fridge. Puff pastry doesn't like warmth before it goes into the oven.

you could always sprinkle the rolled out pastry with grated cheese & paprika, twist them slightly and bake them - go nice with your red wine
