I am itching to get mine down but my suggestion was met with howls of outrage from the kids.

im the same as you, I cant wait to get it all down and have a proper clean up, I am having to bide my time and wait until they go back to school next monday.
6th of January, the twelfth day of Christmas.
Before or on twelfth night (6th January)
January 2nd for most of them, but because we still have the big fiesta of the 3 Kings on Jan 6th, I leave the main tree and the Belen (Nativity scene) until then.
Mine is coming down New Year's Day! It looks half dead anyway!

Yesterday, tired of them. Bah humbug, I know!
Next weekend, probably, in time for the 6th on the following Monday. We like them.
6th for me....who wants to dust sooner ?

murray - dusting? What is this strange word you speak of?
'she who must be obeyed' is itching to get them down but i am holding my ground
Ha....Mrs o ..its when you blow around those wee nik naks....sometimes I pick them up !
Today or tomorrow. Love Christmas, but it's done now. I don't want to start a new year with "last year's tree" up.
It along with the other decorations should go up on Christmas eve and come down on Twelfth night, 6th January. :o}
Christmas decorations?

Ah, I knew that there was something I'd forgotten to put up!
Day after Boxing day for me.Have sufficient old tat without having it illuminated.
LOL, brenda, I love your way of thinking, I couldn't agree more (about my tat, that is, not yours!)
Isn't it bad luck though to take them down too early, or is that only taking them down after the 6th? Don't need another bad year!!
The tree came down yesterday. The mantle garland/wreath thingy is still on the mantle, along with the Christmasssy candles, but the tree was pushing its luck by still standing with the cat around, so it went- tree not cat.
6th Jan here as well, but I'd prefer that they were already down, boxed up and back in the loft :)
