Toasted Muffins

I like a rough texture on my muffins, when I toast them, to give them an uneven crispiness.
I've tried cutting around the outside and then tearing the two halves apart but one side often ends up too thin.

Any suggestions ?

TIA.

Don't try and cut them, just tear them apart, that should give the best results.
You have to tear muffins, I have mine with grilled bacon.
Can you make me one now crafty, I'm starving!
Use a blunter knife, try a dinner knife rather than a bread knife perhaps.
Bit late for me TheWinner, about 8am then no problem..........

Thank you all for your answers.

After some further searches, I found the perfect solution.
Instead of using a knife, insert a fork all around the edge and the muffin just falls apart, with a lovely lunar landscape surface.
I wouldn't have thought this would work but somehow it does.
Mmm... Bacon and brown sauce muffin.... I'm hungry now!
