We're having chips for the first time in about 2 years, Yea!
I had a great one last night, voted as one in the top 10 of the UK, spotlessly clean and HUGE portions, the chips brilliant....

£26 for two plates of cod and chips (one large) with homemade mushy peas (which were amongst the best I have ever had), bread and butter and three wee bottles of vino (one rosé and two red).
I owned a chippy until Sept 2010 when I retired and had my first and last fish and chips on 27th Dec last year, actually in whitby
I'm going to have chips with my kebab tonight... washed down with a nice glass of wine. I am pure class :c)
We had fish and chips on Wednesday
We'll make a note of that thanks DT and have a chippy visit the next time we holiday in beautiful Cornwall.
PS. Can you move Cornwall nearer to the E Midlands please, its such a trek down especially towing a caravan!! :)
I'd love a chippy dinner but sadly my stomach doesn't.

"I don't want Lobster Thermidor with Raspberry Coulis" ...
let me know what you are interested in, ann, closer in and we will endeavour to answer/find info etc.........
Nor mine tiggs after having a tummy bug for 6 days I wouldn't dare risk it, even though I'm better now and starving!
Do you mean interesting places closer to us DT? I doubt it - we have the "gorgeous" bracing East Coast, Mablethorpe, Skegness and the like!!!! Even though I do have to say their beaches are nice , there is no beautiful scenery and often spoilt by some of the holiday clientele (not at all snobby am I!!!!) :)))
Has anyone tried the slimming way of cooking chips? Slice and chip the chips as normal and bring to boil in saucepan of water then drain and dry well with kitchen towel. Put on a baking tray, sprinkle with salt and black pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Bake in a hot oven until golden. I haven't tried this yet since I saw the recipe last weekend for reasons explained above :(
Yes,I prefer them.
Try it Ann, they are lovely. I do sweet potatoes that way too. Yum!
Think I'll try it as well.

I've been told that the reason it makes me feel ill is because thy use the same oil several times before changing it. Not sure if thats true though. I just think my stomach can't cope with too much oil whether it be used or new.
Have you tried the newish spray on olive oil Tiggs? That way you won't be eating too much, it barely coats the food.
I did have some a few years back Ann. I've got sunflower light spray oil and wok light spray oil for stirfries at the moment. I used the sunflower one on my roast potatoes earlier andy they turned out lovely.
we had our chippy dinner last night, it was lovely :-)
we had some fantastic fish and chips in coniston a couple of years ago.
I really want one but all the chippy's round here are going downhill and i'm not driving to Anster!! Tomato soup it is for me then :|
