I found some nice pork pies with cranberry in Tesco's but it doesn't say that they are suitable for freezing. The normal ones are the same, is there any good reason for this?

I would freeze them, it doesnt always say you can on packs
I don't know the actual answer but could it be to do with the jelly? I don't think jelly freezes. I could be wrong though!

They wouldn't taste very nice from frozen.
If you freeze them, the bottoms can go and bit soggy when defrosted.
You can stop this, by wrapping them in tin foil.

Have you tried this fliptheswitch? I don't want to poison anyone!
I have successfully frozen pork pies but they were from a specialist pie makers, not supermarket ones. As flip said, wrap them in foil.
It might be worth emailing the manufacturer though because they may have been frozen previously?
You can freeze them.I have bought them frozen before too.
You certainly won't poison anyone, Pretty much anything can be frozen and eaten once thawed with no danger, it's just the texture (more so than the taste) that might be affected. Pork pies freeze fine but (as FTS said) the pastry can be a little soggy once thawed, but nothing a few minutes in an oven doesn't fix.

Thanks Chuck, That just what Mrs Myriad said, I'll give it a go.
It could be that any ice crystals may not defrost in the middle of the pie. You won't be able to warm that sort of pie up to make sure it's defrosted, (salmonella goes great in pies). And I imagine that the pastry will be soggy once defrosted and won't taste as fresh.
I meant to add especially with the cranberries on top.

I've gone off the idea now askyourgran
they keep for yonks anyway....
Yes you can freeze em- no you won't poson anyone- just make sure you given em plenty of time to defrost.
Farm Foods sell six packs of frozen pork pies so it can't be that much of a problem.
They keep for a while, cover it with foil and keep it in the fridge and take it out to room temperature before eating it.
