Why has sugar gone from 68p last week to 82p this week. Can any mathematicians tell me the % increase. The rate our bills are rising I'm going to have to come out of retirement. I jest.

My OH has been complaining all day that his haircut has gone up from £5 to £6. Luckily he doesn't know how much mine costs!

Thanks for your answers. Maclarencat, thanks for your answer my brain is a bit dull at the moment. We must remember we are all in this together (according to Cameron)
what hasnt gone up in price! a tiny piece of steak costs 8 quid!, a medium chicken costs the same as a large one used to cost. :S
The best way to over come the price increase Mic, is to sell your body ( If it will rise) lol
Stop eating sugar. It's not good for you anyway. Pure white and deadly. Of course I don't know what you can do about price rises in other foods. You can't stop eating entirely. Little poem for you:- Always eat when you are hungry,
Always drink when you are dry,
Always close your eyes when sleeping,
And don't stop breathing or you'll die.
lol star :)
Enough's as good as a feast, as they say. Which is not always true because I prefer Cornettos.
nicely put star :D

How much is milk in your neck of the woods? Purely off tangent, my shops range from 89p to £1.10 for a 2l full cream.

A 2kg bag of sugar is 69p
In my local Spar supermarket Daz has gone from £2.50 to £3.00 in approx 1 week.
In my local shop Daz has gone. He got a job at Tesco instead.
Where are you buying 1kg of sugar at 68p?
It's been a lot more than that for months.
I don't know how much they charge I always pay whatever they ask - after all, if I need it what can I do? I can't barter with them - they could tell me to get lost. Milk is far more expensive if I buy it in the local shop. I have paid £1.52 whereas if I go to a supermarket and buy two, they usually have it far cheaper. I think Tesco and Asda go as low as £1. That's for 2 litres. But you have to buy two to get it that cheap.
