I cannot abide. 'Proper' scotch, or whiskey, but will partake of a dram (!) of southern comfort or jack Daniels.

Could I make a whiskey sour with these? Are they both classed as bourbons?

Nice one. :-)

Jack Daniels is a whiskey not bourbon not sure about southern comfort. It has to beamed in Kentucky to be classified as bourbon.
Be made
Did you know that the golden Caribbean rums such as Mount Gay have that golden colour and rounded taste because they have been aged in barrels that were previously used for Bourbon? Used up to 3 times and then discarded. Useless fact of the day.

I didn't know that.
I generally like all things Jamaican.
Southern Comfort is actually a liquer, it's not Bourbon by a long way...

"Southern Comfort is an American liqueur made from neutral spirits with fruit, spice and whiskey flavorings. The brand was originally created by bartender Martin Wilkes Heron in New Orleans in 1874, and is now owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation"
