I take a lot of vitamin c in powder form especially in winter, I have been told too much could harm my liver, is this information correct or are they wrong.
I think the daily recommended dosage is about 60mg
I take a level teaspoon full in lemonade which is about 3000mg
this perks me up no end.
Is this too much.

Possible, but highly improbable.
How much are you taking?
if it alot more than daily recommended amount then yes its bad for you

When I have a cold or feel down I may take 3 to 4 drinks in 24 hours that will be 9000mg to 1200mg.
Sorry just seen you intake.
3,000mgms is indded quite a "wack", should not use daily more than 1500mgms.

Thank you all for the answers
I will now cut down on the dosage

60mg? maybe if your a mouse! Some fruit and veg contain double that amount! You can take up to 5000mg! I take roughly 3000mg a day as does many friends i know with no ill effects. If you drink, smoke or have a stressfull life/job it will be ok to take the 3000mg that your taking, but not all in one go as your body doe'snt store this vitamin so the body only uses a certain amount and then gets rid of the rest leaving your body requiring it at another point in the day but not getting it,so what i do is split the dosage 1000mg apon waking, around lunchtime and in the evening so that your body has a constant supply all day!

Ahen, its not vit c that turns your skin orange, its vit a(beta carotene)

Mega vitamin dosage has been implicated in side effects, but not vitC although this is now being investigated,
I wouldn't take 3.000mgms vitC myself (indeed I wouldn't take ANY vitamin supplement) but you decide for yourself.
