My daughter who is 39 and got 3 daughters aged 12,10 & 8 has spent the last three years studying hard for a law degree, she has just phoned me to say she is disappointed at only getting a 2/1, she wanted a 1st. I have told her how proud I am, and what a great achievement, so if anyone of you nice folk out there would just say hi to her and say well done it may cheer her up. Thanks puss x

happyjo congratulations on your degree, a 2.1 is bloooody good going, missing a 1st by that little must grate a little but don't let that distract you from the achievement of getting the degree.

As you have real world experience to draw on I'd bet you will do better with your 2.1 then most "green" straight out of uni people would do with a 1st

I wish you luck for the future.

Mark
happyjo , Fantastic result well done
Awww hon, I know what you mean.

I think the best thing you can do it step back from the whole thing and look at it from an outside perspective, kinda hard when you're surrounded by a load of people who have just done the same thing but a good thing to do.

You need to realise what you've achieved and get that silly smile you can't shift from your face sorted as you deserve it.

You've just achieved a law degree!!!! While having 3 kids!!!!

Having done the degree, I can honestly say I don't know how I would ever have managed with 3 kids as well. Pretty darn amazing if you ask me.

Believe me, it's the person that makes the lawyer and you sound like a lovely one so from what I can see you're sorted :)

Now get the very well deserved celebrations sorted!

Ok abdul i thought you were taking the pI55 sorry.
Jo, you come from a loving family of that i know,,, the "quality time" you say youve missed out on ..well i bet the kids didnt notice that much with being at school most of the day. - the kids that miss out are in my eyes the ones whos parents work all the hours god sends to drive "his n hers " matching bluddy cars and have to have all the designer stuff as well... you have done brilliant to better yourself ! be proud of what youve achieved
mrs..xx
Where did you think that. Most Law LLB law degrees DO take 4 years (without the extra stuff)!!!!!!!!

Well they did in my day anyway and sure they still do.

I always wanted a law degree but being on a sponsorship I had to take a standard three year course.

My advice, get in to a Human Rights firm. Boring as hell but serious, serious serious money to be made.
ooo jo sounds like youl make mega bucks -- : )

Hiya Abdul sorry for the way I reacted to youir post but you must admit you have a reputation and I just jumped to the wrong conclusion, anyway thanks for your input to this post. puss x
Well Pat H, the bottom has fallen out of criminal law due to the new Legal Aid rules. And for me anyway, criminal law is the only interesting aspect of the whole syllabus.

Human rights and Copy right law are the only two areas that have really expanded.

I know of criminal lawyers earming little more than 50 k these days. Yes over the average but they are on call 24/7 incl weekends.
Tax and international law are big earners, a lot of corporate and IT and niche areas like shipping.

To be honest though most of the big earning jobs mean working so many hours the money isn't worth it.

My policy is do something you enjoy doing, never sacrifice yourself for the money.
Abdul, did I read somewhere that you are a teacher? If you don't mind me asking, what do you teach? (If you do).

(Sorry to interrupt puss).
Well done anyway, half a per cent get it re- marked if it'll really make a difference to the way that you feel.
We all know what a fantastic acheivement it is in any case ... go on admit it look in the mirror and say 'I did bluddy marvellous! woooo hooooo' then I feel a we dance would be very appropriate. We just did a mexican wave through the topics lol.

Thanx to you all who gave my daughtet a little boost, she is s true star ( I know I'm prejudice) but if any of you want a good lawyer in the future then you know where to come.
I teach Citizenship, Law and P.E. Why do you ask, may I enquire?
Abdul, I have read some of the things on here about you being a down and out, and although I was 99.9 sure it was just a wind-up, I feel better for hearing from you that you are doing okay and not as some AB comics portray you.

(I know they are just pulling your leg, so I hope you don't mind me asking!)
Yes they are hilarious posts aren't they.

And yes, I am doing very well thank you. Am actually retired bit landed a very lucrative teaching job with both a salary and hourly rate over my contract.

But I am moving to Scotland in the next few weeks and will Lord knows what I will do. But the position here in Somerset is open when I return later on in the year.

Teaching is an absolute doddle to be honest. Should have done it years ago!!!!
Abdul, I have a lot of teacher friends who all say pretty much the same as you about it being a doddle.

If I'd been clever enough, I would have been a teacher too!

Good luck with your future plans.
Congratulations thats brilliant, love and good wishes, megan. xxxxxxx
Apologies to puss for interrupting this thread, and the best of luck to happyjo for the future.xx
