When we are watching TV through sky - we have occasional periods where the soud goes off for a few seconds - Is this normal and what is likely to be the cause?

there could be a number of reasons,

a) interferance from weather, mobile phones etc.
b) faulty sky box
c) dodgy speeker system

also, you could also call 'the sky man' to come round and have a look :)
mine cuts off for maybe 1-2 secs but i believe it is a common problem.
Sky charge a 60 callout fee, before the box is even looked at.

If it's not causing too much trouble then I wouldn't worry, mine does it occasionally.
If all else fails switch it off at the mains and leave it for a couple of minutes, you'll be amazed at what that solves!!
yes tubeway, especially with heavy rain. We have lots of high poplar trees nearby apparantly it doesnt help. If it gets really bad Mr Sunflower gets the clothes prop out and gives the antenna on the wall a jab - seems to beat the 60 call out!
Also, he can reprogramme the set from the remote - you will have to call sky to guide you through it (find the number on 'services' on the remote) - they are so lovely and helpful.
sunflower - no doubt they are, but are you aware that it costs about 8p/min to call them. It is an 0870 number, and I can phone the USA for less than half the cost of calling these numbers. If you don't believe me look at your phone bill.

It only does it for a few seconds at a time - speaker system is OK as it is not a problem when watching DVDs
It's build up of static electricity from ur sky box -' electricblue' is right by saying unplug ur set for a few minutes .
