Birthday Greetings Threads

Minty used to have a thread on birthdays of some Abers and I think, probably, this was appreciated by most people.  Minty is missed and also on the GMEB thread and, if you're looking in, hurry back x.  If you have decided not to return for any reason, maybe you would consider passing on your birthday list to someone with whom you are in contact on AB so that "Happy Birthday" can be continued? 😊x  Just a thought!

Personally speaking the birthday greetings went the same way as the GMEB thread - if you were liked by them you were mentioned - otherwise you were not.

Anyone can start the GMEB thread.

but as was mentioned yesterday - if you actually looked at the GMEB thread it was the same 2 or 3 people holding an online chat session - unlike in the days of WBM where anyone was welcome and all joined in.

Although I never contributed, I really enjoyed WBM's threads and also Emmie's too - they seemed friendly, welcoming, wide-ranging, fun etc. Those that followed were... less engaging, shall we say.

It sometimes felt a bit wintery on there...even when just looking in.

I'd like to see emmie back, but sadly feel that won't happen.

I think we will just have to announce our own birthdays ...😉🤣

Hazlinny, as Ken has suggested why not just take the reins of the birthday book and ask ABers who like that sort of thing to give you their birth dates?  That has to be the simplest way.

Hazlinny, sorry, I overlooked that your initial query was about the birthday book. Although I'd never participate in that, some ABers seemed to like and appreciate getting greetings, video clips of exploding cakes etc. I don't think the initial groundwork, getting people to write in with dates, should be too onerous.

You could also search 'Happy Birthday' and get lots of dates from there.

Naomi and Ken/  Two things  ..  I wouldn't like to take over Minty's thread as I hope she will return soon and I am not sure that I will be on here for much longer.  Yes, people could give a hint it is going to be their birthday😊

Funny how a simple post seems to cause a furore - never fails!
Although I have been here on site since 2007, I only drifted over to CB a couple or so years ago and I only know of Minty running a birthday thread and I remember when she updated the list.
On checking birthday dates, I noticed that the lovely Seekeerz celebrated her birthday yesterday so "Happy Sunny Days" to her and thanks for all the work she does with the KM Links Game.  xx🎈🍰

My brother got fed up of the war zone know as News and doesn't post on a regular basis.  It is a shame because he has a good understanding of history and politics and is balanced in his opinions, is non-judgmental and accepting of the views of others.

But he posts a Happy Birthday greeting for me each year and I appreciate that he has remembered.

Haz, why not do as Ken and Naomi suggest, if you're keen to do it?
It could all be updated as there are some who are no longer with us, some who are still active but haven't posted for a number of years, and some who may have changed their minds and would like to be added/removed.

I used to think it odd that some people were wished a happy birthday who hadn't posted for years and never responded, made no sense 🤷‍♀️
