for a nice relaxing holiday. We arrived on the Friday and in the early hours of Saturday morning our lovely daughter-in-law died after a long battle with cancer. Our grandson did not want to go to the funeral so we paid for him and his girlfriend to come out and stay with us for two weeks. They are both sixteen. They flew out on the Wednesday. On the following Thursday she was complaining of severe stomach pains and ended up in hospital and on a drip. I sat on my specs and broke them but luckily had a spare pair with me. We went to dinner with friends and I cracked one of my bottom teeth on a lovely crisp piece of french bread. Three days after that I lost a filling out of one of my top teeth while gnawing on some ribs at a barbecue. The weather was awful with really big hailstones for three days running. Mr BD fished for two weeks without catching a thing. Glad to say he did better on the third week. Oh did I forget to mention that old uncle Harry died as well and we missed his funeral. When we got to the Eurotunnel for our return journey there were technical delays and everything was running about 2/3 hours late. We'd had one of the brand new Sky plus boxes installed just before we left and when we arrived home we found out that everything we had left on the planner had failed. C'est la vie!

Apart from that, I take it you had a good time? ;-)
You are home.

Count to 10.

Open a bottle of wine.

Relax - you are back on AB where nothing ever happens...

carrust - don't go there. I am having to tie my hands to the chair to stop myself from typing a reply to her
I blame the French for this BD, but then again I always blame them for everything anyway.

Don't drink alcohol but will have a nice cup of coffee and some french biscuits. I had even forgotten about Desktop - bet you're jealous! Oh well back to the real world of AnswerBank. It's nice to be home. We enjoyed the holiday that much we are doing it again in September. Gluttons or what?
carrust, you said what we were all thinking!
Bakers Dozen. You certainly had a memorable break. Why not make something of it and sell your story. Most of the womens mags pay around a grand for much less eventful tales.

Tony - we love France and the french people - apart from the Parisians - but even the french don't like them.
Just seen your "related post" below from June last year about your holiday in France BD, when Mr BD took ill and you had to drive all the way home again. Are you sure you want to keep going there? LOL ;)

We have been going for three weeks early in the year for the past 22 years and its only the past two years that we have had problems. We also go for three weeks every September and, touch wood, up to now we have had a great time. I'll let you know in October.
What did Carrust say that it has been removed?
something that our rutting stag is holding his head in shame with......
elliemay, he made reference to another AB'er who I cannot name, but is fed up
poor you, sounds like the sort of thing that would happen to me, at least your home in one piece.
YOu didn't take gness with you, did you?
Have you seen the related questions. Are you SURE your family and Drance are compatible?
Or France even.

Dee - It is surprising how one night back in your own bed can get you back on track. Just got to make appointments at the opticians and the dentist then maybe I can smile again. Zacs - we would move there tomorrow if it wasn't for the grandson. We absolutely love it and two bad times out of over 40 isn't bad. We haven't suffered any great hardship just a series of smallish calamaties. It is my son and grandson who are having the worst time of it. Having your 42 yr old son crying down the phone to you as he tells you the bad news and not being able to hug him was the worst part.
May I ask you BD and do tell me to f-off if necessary but why didn't you head back to the UK on the news and for the funeral, especially as you described her as a lovely d-in-law?
