Right hypothetically.....
You are given £1 million and 1 week to spend it.

What do you spend it on?

Me - Pay off mortgage and put our house on the market (with designs on upgrading to a bigger home)

Buy a new car for me and my partner (not too flash but one would be a safe, reliable and efficient family car and the other something sporty)

I would ensure my immediate family are given £50,000 each to make life a little more comfortable.

Buy a property in the South Of France for the family

Take my partner and her little boy to Disney World Orlando

Rest would be saved to ensure an early retirement, but I would continue to work!

Doesn't sound like you'd have much left to save!!
New car for myself and partner
pay off mortgage and daughter's student loan (at least)
Rest on my life's dream - buy a country house in Menorca
If you save the rest for retirement, you haven't spent it in a week?

Technically Sipowicz has me there!
I do not need any more money, give it all away.
Buy house, new car, give some to my boys and live comfortably for, hopefully, a long time to come.

Prudie - Menorca? Next door to Sqad?
Well where he lives is a bit built up for my liking but as the island's only 35 miles wide I wouldn't be too far away!

Our mortgage has £178,000 remaining
Wouldnt spend more than £60,000 on 2 cars
When I say immediate family, I am considering 3 people - £150,000
Property in France - £150,000
Holiday to Disney with all the trimmings and upgrades for 2 weeks - £8,000 - £10,000

£547,000 spent with intentuions on saving the rest.
You can't save it if you have 1 week to spend it.
I'd think the best you could get for £150K in south of France these days is a small apartment
£1m isn't as much as you think. It's not a lot these days.

It's not much, wouldn't give up work for it.
I'd spend most of it on booze, gambling, and women. The rest I'd just squander.
Simply the Best!
Small house, furniture for the house, new car for the oh, top of the range gaming computers for me and our son.

Lud, I have a picture on my living room wall of George Best with that quote.

I was going for 'Best' answer ;o)
Yeah, but I want one with a working toilet. No chemical toilets for me, might spill it on my shoes!
