Well personally.....I think that 12 is much too young to start shaving.
Question Author
Do you ? He is quite developed for his age and has quite a bit of bum fluff
LOL...so what's wrong with "bum fluff" at the age of 12 for God's sake?
!2 is very young!!

Maybe worth talking to a DR if its growing to the point where he needs to be shaving regularly, could be a hormone problem.

If you are going to buy a razor or shavers, dont buy cheap, buy good quality, his skin will be very soft and sensitive and with cut and get shaver burn very easily.

i cant see nothing wrong with bum fluff but a lot of his mates have started to shave i think he wants to join in lol
thankyou for the link mosaic
As he's young he won't have any aggressive hair growth yet so i would personally start him off on a basic battery powered shaver which would be easier on his skin and he can progress to a more advanced wet shaver as the he gets older and the stubble becomes more apparent.

can i ask all you lovely gents how old you all were when you shaved for the first time ?
kerri......me? years old.
Sqad, a 12 year old will get the p!ss ripped out of him by his class mates, he wants to look like a smart lad not a baboon.

Im bloody sure I would have shaved it off.
Question Author
sorry sqad i dont understand your last answer
you need to start when you need to start; there's no right age. 12's not unusual. But he won't be doing it regularly for a while. Probably a simple razor and soap and hot water will be all he'll need in the meantime
I was about 15 but started having to shave regularly at about 16
RATTER......we don't know what kerriesmum means by "bum fluff"......the idea of a simile to a baboon didn't occur to me.......but you may well be right.
I had to start shaving at his age ( or maybe a year later) so have sympathy with your predicament although mine were proper bristles not bumfluff. I started with an electric razor and carried on for about 20 years! One time I had to borrow a friends wet razor and have never looked back. Much quicker and less irritating. I always shave after showering as this softens the bristles and is far less irritating. Get the water in the sink as hot as you can stand and warm the razor in the water. Swill off with cold water. Try to shave every other day as this seems to slow down the growth. Phew.
Question Author
maybe i will invest in a battery one for him for now
LOL....sorrykerrie.....15 years old.
Question Author
by bum fluff i mean the bristles are soft but cover his chin
or put a bit of butter on his chin and get cat to lick it off!
