Scenario: a 15 year old girl is having a sexual relationship with a 30 year old man. It only comes to light when the girl plays truant and her parents report her missing. The Police find her on her way home and when quizzed, she spills the beans. The Police cannot prosecute the man because the girl refuses to make a statement.
However, the Police are refusing to go see or even phone the man to speak to him about the relationship. It is almost as if they are condoning the matter. Do you think at the very least he should receive a warning?

Poor Mrs O, it's not a nice situation for you. The offer remains open should you need it, don't be beating yourself up and take care of you too.

No Boo, don't be daft. I wanted opinions and advice and that's what I got!

Us parents try our best with our kids and it hurts when you teach them right from wrong and they go off the rails.

The one good thing that has come out of all this is something my daughter said - the words "It is all my fault". At least that shows some maturity.

Thanks China, you are a sweetheart xx
oh don't worry rs O, my own daughter, the eldest, has given me enough grief and heartache in the past herself. I knew where you were coming from.

Oh Boo.....you'll have it all to go through again with Mini Boo.

Having kids seemed like such a good idea at the time.....
There you go.......

You're not a completely rubbish parent...........you're only a bit rubbish!! :o)

<Like every darn tootin' other one of us.......I hasten to add>

Chin up xxx
Sorry if my comments upset you in anyway Mrs O, it wasn't my intention to do so. I'm just so angry at the authorities response to the whole situation, their attitude to this matter is attrocious!!
Yeah I know Mrs O, she's already got The Attitude (notice the capital letters), im fearful already....

Listen. NONE of you have upset me!!

It is my baby girl (well, all 11 stone of her) who is the cause of the upset xx
I have thought some more about this and really there is a very positive side to it.

Your daughter has been EXTREMELY brave in being honest with you and the police officer - it can't have been easy.
It could have been tempting to take the easy way out and put the blame on the man, accuse him of blackmail, rape, sexual assault, threatening behaviour - the list goes on.

So well done to her for her honesty when it really mattered, and well done to mrs_overall for having the sort of relationship with her daughter that allows the daughter to have the courage to be truthful with her in a very difficult situation.

Upsetting as it may be, in the grand scheme of things this is not the end of the world.
a difficult time for you all, does your daughter use contraceptives ?
All i can say is that i hope you get through this Mrs_o............i send you my love :0) xx
If it was my !5 yr old daughter I'd have been straight round to 'have a quiet word' with the bloke

"She told me she was 18" is an easy excuse for a man to use as a defence, I bet he actually knew her real age
Sorry to hear this Mrs O - must be a nightmare for you. Cyber hugs on the way.
joe, rofl, you stirrer you, but read it properly you donut- Mrs O said her daughter admitted she'd lied to the guy by telling him her age was 18.

Nice try, but no cigar this time ;-)
I have read this thread and the more I read the more complicated the situation seemed to get.

I am so glad that I have no offspring - and the kitties had been for their 'op' when they adopted me.

I find it impossible to work out how old some of the young girls are - were we like that when we were young?
Boo, a man involved with a very young girl who told him she was 18 should make 110% certain she was at least 16 before he laid so much as a finger on her
h Mrs O, what a horrible situation to be in. In my opinion they are both culpable and should be cautioned, your daughter for giving consent, ( until she is 16 she is not allowed by law to do so ) and the fellow for being such a twit. Come on now, although she may well dress, and look older than her years, there surely must have been some doubt somewhere. I applaud her for not wanting to get him into trouble, however they do both need a good ticking off.....from your good self .....big hugs for you xxx
joe.

<<<<15 Year Old Girl And A 30 Year Old Man>>>>

She told him that she was 18yrs old and I am going to assume that she looked 18yrs old ( I may well be wrong)....then the headlines would be:

"18yr old girl and a 30 yr old man"

Not desirable, but certainly not that unusual.

I would need to know more about the girl and the man with regard to their past history before i made a big deal out of this.

I would not discuss with the man (unless i knew him well) and would make it clear to my daughter, that i disapproved.
That is all that you can do as a parent..............and then hope for the best.
Would you believe everything a teenage girl told you?
