hi all. just been to midwife cause had some discomfort in the early hours. Told that im 2/5 and head's engaged. Im 36 weeks. Does this mean it could come early ??
Hi redcrx! 1st chance to come on here tonight!
I had my bundle on Sat night, 18:29, after a 3 day stint on antenatal ward with hypertension! I was dialating without even knowing it, 4cm when they checked me over on Sat morning, so they sent me down to labour ward & broke my waters! Even though I was 6 days over, it was still a shock to be started off suddenly!
Eventually out popped a girl, a whopper at 10lb 9.25oz, no gas & air at the end, evil midwife took it off me lol!
Walking like John Wayne, but all worth it in the end x
Sorry for not updating sooner! I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at 1.06am Monday 22nd September. She weighed 8lb 4 and is just the most gorgeous thing :-)

I had a membrane sweep on the Thursday, started having contractions at 8am Saturday morning, managed with paracetamol and tens machine until they finally let us stay in the birth centre (we'd been in to get checked twice before but contractions not regular enough and only 1cm dilated the first time and 3cm the second!). Phoned the birth centre at 6pm on the Sunday as I couldn't handle it at home any longer. Told to go in and our baby was born 6 hours later!

We're loving every minute of parenhood and are just getting used to the lack of sleep! Nipples are very sore too but it's definitely getting easier.

littlemiss, bubs will arrive when ready hun. Hopefully not early or late. But i do hope that youre not suffering with twinges all the time you wait xx

Niallsmama, congratulations!!!! what a hefty baby, but they do say the heavier the baby the easier the birth.

want2findout, congratulations hun. the nipples will settle down eventually, if its the latching on thats hurting then try expressing a tiny bit by hand before feeding to ease the pressure. oh and try lanolin on them.

so do we get names? the girls certainly outweigh the boy arrivals by look of it xxxxx
Thanks redcrx! yes, the midwife gave me a couple of sachets of that nipple cream to try and I've since been out to buy a tube. Big big help! She also suggested the nipple shields if I was desperate. They look like milk bottle teats which you just place over your nipples. The baby sucks on that rather than your nipple and still gets the goodness of your breastmilk whilst giving your nipples a chance to heal. I have to say that was the best 5 we've ever spent! got me through the most painful bit (bleeding nipples etc) and at least I know they're there should my nipples get too sore again. Fingers crossed it should be plain sailing from here.
We've named her Madlen Rhys :-)
