Hi all, hope your all well. I'm being very premature being as I have 8 weeks to go. I know there's been a thread about it recently but I can't find it. I know what to put in my bag but am a little unsure about what to put in babys bag. Can anyone give me a list and quantities more importantly. Thanks

Hi i had this poblem when i had my baby, i didnt know what to pack for him so i took everything lol!
What you will need is:
3 or 4 baby vests and sleep suits
Pack of newborn nappies, wipes and talc powder
Bag of cotton wool to give baby a wash
Scratch mittens
A few bibs
couple of pairs of socks or booties
an outfit for when you take baby home and a jacket or coat and hat
The hospital will provide blankets but you might want to take 1 of your own, a nice snuggly warm one
The hospitla wil give you made-up bottle milk unless you breast feed or want to take your own..

Its like your packing for a 3 week holiday lol, but its so worth it when you see your baby in the cute tiny clothes!

Good luck, hope this helps x

I would forget the wipes and talc and stick an extra babygro or muslin in.

The wipes are too astringent and cold for a newborn - use cotton wool and warm water. I would never, ever use talc - I know it smells lovely, but it is not good for the lungs either of the baby or you.

I would recommend the extra outfits in case of sickness - my boys were both born by section and the end up having a lot of gunge in their lungs that is usually squeezed out as they pass through the birth canal - this gunge makes them a bit chokey and sicky (technical terms!) after they are born and they bring up sticky black goo - a bit like mashed banana that has been sitting for a while. I went through loads of vests and babygros as they got that stuff all over them and you want to have them nice for visitors! - I also took a little bar of baby soap and nail clippers and hair brush - baby might be more hairy than you expect!

can't think of anything else...

hi the one thing we forgot is a hat, we had brought them and forgot to pack it. the hospital would not let baby come out without it. so i had to buy one from the hospital shop.
not sure if all hospitals are the same but its worth remembering

My cousin is in the Lister in Stevenage at the moment, she had a baby boy yesterday. I ant beleive you need to take all that stuff with you, it is disgraceful. Where I had my two everything was provided
