children develop at different stages try not to compare him with other children around the same age. but your health visitor is the best person to discuss this with,
my nephew couldnt sit up at 10 months but by 13 months he was running around.
As crete says they develop at different ages, speak to your Health visitor, i think youll be having an 8 month check soon where they will sit and discuss any worries you have if youve not seen them by then
I agree with crete, all kids are different. My eldest could sit up at 6 months, my middle one sat at 7 months and my youngest sat at 10 months. My eldest worried me to death as she didn't walk until she was 19 months...she's now a county cross country champion! There was a story in the Daily Mail either Tues or Wed this week about a baby who is walking at 6 months. Cripes!
Dont worry old grape he will be sitting, crawling, and walking in his own time. Then you will be wishing it had taken him longer!!!! I wouldnt worry just yet they usually get there in the end. If he arches his back and straightens his legs then he possibly is more interested in standing than sitting.

We have just bought a seat from Mothercare that is especially designed to help babies learn to sit up. It has had great reviews and we know of somebody who's child began to sit up all by herself after about 6 weeks of using it.

It is very soft and comfy feeling and our little boy seems quite happy in it ,so long as he is being amused somehow by his babygym or by us.

Good luck
