My granddaughter who is 3months old has suddenly decided she will not go to anyone except her Mummy and Daddy. This is very upsetting for me and others who she was happy to go to before, and it gives my daughter and her husband no break from her.It is probably just a phase she is going through, but how will she get out of it?

Hi you're right it's just a phase and it will end. it's nothing personal all babies do it....give her a break....she is only 12 weeks old and probably freaked out by all the attention, where as her mum and dad are constants in her life.

My daughter was the same, now at 12 she is her grandads best friend. They even sit in the same chair and I am the odd one out. It is great that they have such a relationship, lets hope yours will be too. x
Hi! I am a nanny and have worked with babies and young children for over 4 years now. I think you should try to distract her whenever her mum or dad hands her out to you. Try distracting her attention from her parents with a toy or a song. Also try to go to another room and play with her for a while, without any of her parents being around. If she starts crying, just continue to speak to her in 'happy' tone (your calm, soothing tone will ensure her that everything is fine) of voice and DO NOT PANIC! She won't break if she cries a bit. Try to move her around and show her different things (toys, books, look out the window etc.). Being so young, her attention span is very short so she should forget all about her parents while you keep her entertained. This is only until she gets used to you, then I expect no further problems. Good luck and I hope this helps.
