Does anyone have info on a baby monitor than can run from the mains rather than rechargeable batteries.

My family have a monitor but the battery runs out after about 6 hours. Thats not enough to see them through the night so are looking for another that can be left plugged in.....Granddaughter suggests something that sits on a charger like an MP3 player.

I guess there is a name for that type but as I don't know what its called I can't come up with anything suitable in my search.

There's loads about, google Tommee Tippee - the new ones look pretty swish (I didn't use one on my youngest children but you can get some amazing kit now - at an eye watering cost).
We had a Tomy digital monitor, about £30 but very well built and quality sound. I think it was from ToysRus

I have this one BT 1000 Digital Video Baby Monitor and both units can be used plugged into the mains. The parent unit also contains rechargeable batteries so it can be used not plugged in for about 6 hours. How do you charge your rechargeable batteries? If you have to plug the unit in to the mains to charge it then just do this overnight & keep the unit switched on. That's what we do.
