My daughter is now 26months and I have heard rave reports about Gina Fords approach. I wondered if anyone had her book and whether it would be too late for me to try this approach. I don't want to pay out for the book if it is not appropriate for her now at this age.

Thanks

just go to contentedbaby.com and you will find lots of helpful stuff from Gina Ford without having to fork out for the book - try it and then decide :O)
With your daughter at over 2 years old, Gina's book may be used for reference but not to be taken too seriously. I bought the baby book when my son was born and had it not been for the fact that I already had a son, so I 'knew how it went' I would have ended up demented!! Without going into too much detail, I think maybe you can 'pick the bones' out of it but let commonsense prevail. A great, up beat, practical and 'normal' book is called Toddler Taming by Christopher.Green. I do recommend this book very highly.
i found this book really helpful as a first time mum but didn't stick strictly to routines just used it as a baseline. my baby of three months has been sleeping through the night from 7 weeks
You could see if they have it in your local library to borrow. I think at 26 months it will not be so useful anymore.
I have both books but would recommend Toddler Taming over Gina Ford, some of the useful tips and advice I still use, my children are 4 and 5.
Just make sure you inform youself of the consequences of such methods. Research has shown it can be damaging to the short and longterm physical and mental health of a child.
It's really not worth the risk!
