How Do You Eat??

I noticed ages ago how differently people eat their meals. Main meals generally. Take Mr Smow and I for example . He does the same thing EVERY meal time. Take a roast dinner for example. He will eat all the veg first. Then the potatoes and yorkies if any. Then all that will be left is the meat.which he eats last. His logic is he eats the least favourite things first and leaves the best till last - even though it's going cold lol.

I'm completely different. I put a little bit of everything on each forkful, so I'll have a tiny bit of veg, potato, and meat in each mouthful. I just assumed everyone ate like me but clearly not.

My sister eats like Mr Smow. I eat like you.

I can only eat small portions so if I ate like Mr Smow I'd probably be full up before I got to the meat.
Me, I am not fussy, I just shove a bit of everything into my mouth!
but my BIL, he is a right case. He eats everything separately and it takes him hours literally. We had him for Sunday lunch and I like to wash up the dishes not long after eating, but had to wait nearly 2 hours until he finished. God!!!
Great question...I do a bit of both. I aim to get a bit of each or at least a good mix in each mouthful but I do save some of my favourite bits to enjoy at the end :)
OH just shoves it in however it comes lol
Sharon that sounds awful!
Tell me about it!!!!
I do the same as Mr Smow.. On Saturdays , we always have a cooked breakfast, I eat bacon and mushrooms first then I take all the white off my fried egg and eat it with half toast or fried bread, then eat beans then tomato on other half of toast leaving the sausage for last. It always makes my daughter if she is visiting laugh.Like to eat things seperately, not keen on too much veg so I would have that last.
i just shovel it all in, in the hope that it tastes ok, not being a brilliant Nigella impersonator.
OG really needs to get over this crush he has on NoMercy........ ;-)
I eat the things I don't like first - then enjoy the things I like .

e.g - apparently Broccoli and Cauliflower is suppose to be good for you , so when her indoors cook them , I consume those first .

;-p
Could you pass the ketchup ?
I put a little bit of everything on each forkful, so I'll have a tiny bit of veg, potato, and meat in each mouthful.

Same here with a mixed variety of flavours I'm also quite a slow eater but it's very seldom I have cooked meal.
I am a sort of hybrid of Mr & Mrs Smow - I eat bits of everything all through the meal, but always save a favourite bit for last.

I think this comes from the 'you must clear your plate' policy of my Mum - being faced with a solitary carrot was not an inducement to cross the finish line - a crisp roastie and a bit of gravy was.

I do wonder whether my resultant 'eat the boring stuff first' tendency is a reason for my weight gain in recent years - perhaps if I ate the best bits and then thought 'no thanks' about the rest I'd eat less?

I've got a small appetite too so if I ate like Mr Smow I wouldn't even get to the meat!
As for fried eggs well I only eat the yolk so I'm always left with the white with a hole in the middle lol
I go through the plate tasting everything individually and then stack my fork according to which components compliment one another.

Mixed fork/spoonfuls for me, with the best-looking bits of each ingredient saved for the last mouthful.
Having just read S-D's post I was also brought up to clear my plate. Others I know were raised to leave something for 'Mr Manners'. Childhood influences have a way of rolling on into adulthood.

Always at a proper table, then a bit of everything per fork full, way too far down the line to look for any surprises.
Still the Roast theme... it has to be said that roasters and Yorkshire puddings do get devoured first.

You can't beat Eggs for breakfast though..... although some do ;-)

Eccles I think BECAUSE I was forced to finish my plate, to the point I'd be sat at the table for hours and even resorted to hiding food in my mouth, going to the loo and then spitting it in lol and flushing, is probably why I never finish a meal now. Think I always always leave something. Mind you the toilet thing backfired when my mum went in after me and found floating cauliflower!
