The other day my 26year old son accused me of growing old disgracefully all because I showed him the pic I now have as a avatar and gave him some CDs of the music that band play....apparently he thinks I'm heading to the dark side of the goths.... Any other late 40s had the same accusations leveled at the by a son/daughter ?? Tell me I'm not alone!!

Tell him to behave or you will set satan on him.....mind you, it sounds like a compliment to me.
On the day I was sixty I was given Jenny Joseph's book When I am an Old Woman and had to act out as many of the disgraceful things in the book as I could...I did...I loved it and have been happily disgraceful ever since. x
Sounds fun to me! Be like me and act your shoe size! lol
There is nothing wrong in growing old disgracefully. I am 52 (well, for one day in July) and am not going to change m,y ways now. I like me, and others like me this way. Or, he says with a smile, you could say to your son that he is turning into a grumpy old man before his time.
Aww...give me a break, Georgiesmum...I take size 2!
gness, my shoe size is 11, but my mental age is about five: just ask my mum!
I tell my daughter and my husband (who has been waiting for me to grow up for over 26 years) that growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. I live by the second option, more fun this way
The older I get, the more I think about the hereafter.
I go in the kitchen and think,"What am I here after?".
I go in the garage and think...............
I understand your son's fears.
I sometimes text my daughter jokes. Recently I sent her a slightly risque joke (gleaned from Answerbank) and she showed it to her workmates. She said one of them seemed shocked 'Your MOTHER sent you this?'. So I think I must be disgraceful.
I treat every day as I feel when I wake up. I'm 56 but some days feel 36 and other days 86. The amount of vodka I have had that day makes a difference as well.
Slapshot, you mean that young babes you once had as your avatar is not you!?
Well call me fooled and misled. :)

Sorry Society....I'm not Sally James ;0)

Glad it's not just me though to be honest I'll behave how I like and if that means imaturely then the kids will just have to learn. Growing up is over-rated
You know you're doing a good job of not maturing by embarrassing your off-spring.
One word of caution, don't overdo it, they are the ones who choose your nursing home :-D

Nursing home.... nah I want to go in a blaze of glory none of this doddering around till I keel over
My lads gave up on me some years ago - 57 year old dad still playing Black Sabbath 'that' loud in the car and statements about the curvaceousness of certain Breakfast TV news presenters has them shaking their heads in disbelief.....

The memsahib and I caused a serious mental malfunstion in our daughter a few years ago by singing Paradise by the dashboard Lights far too loudly in the car.... she wanted to get out!! Kids have no sense of fun!
It's in the job description slappy. embarrass the off spring. you know you've got it right then! :o}
