Have a great time.
From what I've heard from colleagues the prices will seriously take the edge off your appetite!
I love Disneyland - we've been three times now (the time we went at Christmas was a big disappointment though). I would just suggest going with the flow, accepting that things are expensive, that there are going to be queues. If at all possible, go on Space Mountain (the grown ups that is) frightened the life out of me but it was brilliant! Have a fabulous time.
Enjoy yourselves annie, hope the weather holds up for you. I've never been so I can't really help you, but a pair of comfy shoes springs to mind.

Thanks guys :) - I am prepared for the expense - we've never done anything like this with the kids before and they are 11 and 10 now so want to do it before it's too late. I don't think we will ever be back so want to make sure we make the most of it. I've been told to take snacks with us to keep the cost down a wee bit.

you are right ayg - comfy shoes first on the list :o) thanks. Long range forecast looks nice - that might the first and last sun we see this year!
Are you staying at Disneyland? (just being nosey and a bit jealous)
Question Author
Hi Sher, yes we are, the Cheyenne which is pretty low down the list in terms of the cost/luxury, but it'll do for us - don't intend spending much time in the hotel.
Dont get to close to sneezy

...you can't be jealous, you've already been 3 times!!! why was Christmas disappointing btw? There should be Hallowe'en stuff on when we go.
dont eat in the restaurant at the pirates ride. That was rubbish when we went.

the buffet restaurants were great. Chef Mickeys was good for the kids (we had 7 with us aged from 2-13)

if at a hotel with free breakfast then take some for a packed lunch if you can. Even though bags are searched on entering parks you wont have food removed.

Ive just spent the last hour reserving all my meals for WDW dining plan for feb, plenty of review sites online for all the restaurants in Paris too.

http://www.dlp.info/ both of these are pretty good
Went to Disney in Florida. No food allowed to be taken in. Don't know about Paris though. Have a good time.
We've stayed at the Cheyenne and it was lovely - really clean and the rooms are more than adequate as a base. When we went at Chirstmas time (2009) it was so un-Christmassy, not a Father Christmas in sight! It was also, not surprisingly, bitterly cold and boy 1 was really ill (we think he had swine flu). Lots of the shows (the wild west one for example - which is absolutely brilliant if it's within budget) was only open on certain nights (and we missed out) and lots of the stalls were shut (couldn't get an ice cream - know it was Decemeber but you ALWAYS get an ice cream on holiday). We went on a meal-deal thing though and that worked out really well for us. Again, have a fabulous time.

lol owdhammer

thanks red :) I'll have a look at those later. A little supply of sandwich bags might be handy then!

mikmak - you are definitely allowed to take food in - i've read it somewhere on the website.
we took sandwich bags and also had a load of little sachets of mayo, ketchup etc. for ham and cheese rolls that we pinched at breakfast.
we had our suitcases full of kids drinks, biscuits, crisps, raisins etc so that we had breakfast at hotel each day, a picnic lunch and then our main meal (on dining plan) each day. We rarely bought any extra food, just a couple of coffees mid day.

Thanks again sher - shame that Christmas was disappointing, not sure we can manage the wild west show we only really have 2 full days and 2 half days so we will need to squeeze as much in as we can - good news about the Cheyenne - we went for that as it had bunkbeds and the boys are now getting reluctant to share a double.........or sleep with their Mum or Dad!!!
Question Author
Sounds good red - we are not on the meal plan but kids can be a bit fussy (for different stuff unfortunately!!) We thought we'd do the same re lunches - I booked 40 kilos of luggage but we are only away for 3 nights so should have plenty of room for drinks and snacks.
i would suggest the buffets then. Plenty for fussy eaters on those.
Micmak, I ave been to the Florida one many, many times and have never had a problem taking food in, same with LA and Paris. The prices inside are expensive but I'm sure you will be ready for that! Make sure you watch the Parade along Main St. If you like rides, go on Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. Try to visit all the "lands" within the park. There was a Hallow'een house there the last time I went which was fab, not sure if it is still there...it was next to The Pirates of the Carribean ride.
They are the perfect age for it, although I am 34, no kids and I still love it! Enjoy it and have a fab time x

Thanks V&C - lots of good ideas there - me and No1 son not big on rides but Dad and Junior like the coasters.

Red - I'll have a look at the buffet ones then - I think we are resigned to eating expensive rubbish for a few days.......we've upped the usual 5 a day to 7 or 8 to make sure we get all our vitamins stored up ;o). Eldest is happy to eat burgers hot dogs etc given the opportunity, youngest will eat pizza and chicken nuggets but no other junk really - neither of them like a lot of sauces on their food or green bits sprinkled on!!!
