It is my grandson's 6th birthday today. We sent him a beautiful card first class and he has not
received it. I will phone him when he gets in from school to let him know that his nanny and
granddad have not forgetten him. My daughter tells me he has taken some sweets to school to
share with his friends. I really miss my grandchildren. They used to live just 10 minutes away.
But now they live about 50 miles away.I know it's not far as some people live from their families,
but with my husband working shifts and alternate weekends don't see them as much as we'd
like to.

What exactly are you annoyed about?

The card missing in the post? Whilst it's a shame this has happened, i think we have to bear in mind that it does...errr happen.
You sound more sad than annoyed to me.... Hey cupid - it could be a lot worse. 50 miles isn't so far - at least they haven't emigrated to Australia.
Have they got a computer? If so it may not be the best solution but why not send him and "E-card" ? There are many sites like this one

http://www.123greetings.com/

But I'm guessing that this may run deeper than just a late card? There's always the second post to wait for and I hope he gets it as he is obviously loved and missed.
Moonpig is a good service they have not yet once delivered a card for me late!

I know 50 miles isn't far compared to Australia [I'd hate that]. I'ts just when they lived
closer I could see them after school, go to the park, do school assemblies etc.
Thanks for the advice of how to do cards on line.
second post? What's that then?
Yeah who still gets the second post in the uk these days?
Question Author
There is no such thing where I live. There was many moons ago though!
I am lucky if I get my first before 3pm
trouble is greedyfly, it's not moonpig who deliver the card, they just post it and the Post Office deliver.
Question Author
Does rather depend if our postie has been in the pub first!
Yes Royal mail still deliver but as I said they have yet to lose or deliver one late. I am pretty sure they are guaranteed delivery by certain time and date! Just a bit more back up when your sending a card to someone.
Last year I received a card from America which was posted two days earlier. All it had on it was my name, house number and street name and country. Howzat for service?
That's amazing!
Ok, I live in Plumstead high street in so narrowed it down a bit but still,
Sorry Greedyfly, no guarantees with moonpig, my nephew sent me a birthday card via moonpig in September and I am still waiting for it to be delivered. When my sister rang to say it hadn't arrived they basically said it wasn't their fault as their records showed it had been sent. Another one down to Royal Mail! BB
when did you post it, cupid? I posted cards on Saturday for Tuesday and Wednesday this week - you can't rely on next- day delivery unless you pay for special delivery.
Question Author
Only Friday morning, perhaps I should have posted it sooner.I even got it weighed
at the post office because it was a big card, so I know I paid the right postage. I spoke
to him when he got in from school and he told me about all the presents he got. Perhaps he might get it in todays post, we live in hope. I've sent him another one as
well just in case.
I think it's dreadful that the card hasn't arrived yet. Secretagentman - there is no second post any more ..... I think a phone call to him would be perfect, as it's now Tuesday, I suspect you have already called him.
If the envelope was bright coloured and you wrote the address directly onto it it will take a few days. The sorting machine can't 'read' the address on them so they get put aside for it to be done manually. Now, I put a white address sticker on such envelopes. HTH
