Would you say the same if the post was:

What should I do? Some friends of mine are teaching their 3 children (aged 9 to 15) how to brew espresso coffee and sip wine.

?
These type of freinds which you mention need to sort themselfs out otherwise I think that there children are going to be addicted to weed at quite a high chance 15 yrs old and is going to lead down the path of, no job no qualifications and a life of crime ultimatley resulting in a criminal records quite likley drugs related and being given a custodial sentence which may be the start of his life which revovles around being sent more and more often to prison, each sentence becoming longer and slowly if not after 3 or so times it will become years if not at some point resulting in 5+ before parole. I say this as I have watched quite a few people go down the same/very similar some people alot worse path to a life which is a viscous circle seeming almost impossable to get out of, even so such things as gaining employment is going to be limited depending on the crimes commited and also if any employer takes more than a 50 second glance at your cv/application once reading convictions section which is most employers first part they skip ahead to and decide on the fact as to wether its worth looking any futher
Answer-prancer is right. You are all over-reacting.Weed is not as addictive as tobacco and alcohol and the usual rant about leading to hard drugs and a life of crime is irritating.I am not condoning this behaviour in any way especially when young 9 yr olds are involved and as it is still an illegal drug its bad news to encourage them-but just get a grip! You want to turn their parents into criminals and separate these kids from their parents! I'm sure that they won't go down that slippery slope then, will they?!!What kind of 'friend' would you be if you had them arrested?

But they are smoking tobacco with the weed and ordinary cigarettes too as a consequence! I'm in an impossible position and I can't say any more without becoming identifiable. I know I am witnessing a waste and a disaster, but it's obvious I can't do anything about it. I'll just have to watch it happen, and I know it will.
Find your backbone woofy and tell the police !

One parent is very much against it but does nothing to stop it. The other seems to think it's perfectly normal. If I do nothing it will go on but at least they stay as a family, but if I speak out the kids will be in care and it could be even worse for them. I have never faced such a moral dilemma. Perhaps I am too straitlaced, but I loath the combination of drugs, tobacco, alcohol and children. The value of education has been minimalised and made unimportant and I get the impression that as long as the kids can have sex and smoke they're ok. That stuff goes against all my feelings and principles.
can I clarify? Are the children smoking the cigarettes or rolling them? are the children smoking marajuana or do they see their parents smoke it?

Can be a huge difference here. My friends children used to watch me roll cigarettes and ask if they could have a go - they loved it. No harm in that - they haven't grown up smokers or anything as a result?

However, i have to say that i wouldn't want to see anyone smoke marajuana in front of children, let alone encourage that this is right.

I do think reporting to the police or social services is excessive as a first step - perhaps a quiet word with your friends to say your worried about the marajuana and the smoking (if thats what the kids are doing).

When you say teaching them, what do you mean? doing it in front of them?
Question Author
I thought I made it clear. They have been taught to roll cigarettes and spliffs and smoke them in front of the parents, together with a group of other people's children, in the house and elsewhere. One of the parents is smoking the stuff at the same time.
Tell the parents it must stop or you will have no choice but to report them to social services, that might scare them into stopping that, kids should not be smoking it at that age, and if that is what they are def doing, then they would be better off in care.
At that age they should be able to chop coke, report the parents!

Chop coke - I don't understand?
