I have been married for almost five years my husband will not put my name on the house deeds, i think this is because i would be more entitled to ask him to sell it should we ever splitt up, (is this true??) he does not have a Will. Should i ask him to make one?

If he puts your name on the deeds and then you divorce sometime in the future he will effectively be giving away half of his house.
Would you want to give away half of your property to someone you don't love anymore? I think not.

I'm no expert on wills,but I think if he were to die then most if not all of his estate would go to you anyway because you are married. If you weren't hitched then you wouldn't be entitled to anything.

What difference would it make then if he put my name on the deeds or not, if i would be entitled to his share if he should die anyway with me being married to him?
I take it he was in the house before you two got together? do you contribute to the house? I dont know the ins and outs of the law regarding all this I am just thinking I would not want that to be the case if I was with someone. Mind you I am single and I have my own house - not sure I would want to effectively sign half of it over to someone, I would have to be put in that situation though.
I'm no lawyer but to answer your second question. Dying is different in law to divorcing.

If your husband were to die then he may well want the house to go to you,maybe that's a reason he's not made a will.But if you divorce he probably won't want to give you a share of his house.

Although if you can prove you have contributed to the mortgage(but not the other bills) you will probably have a case if you do split up.

I think you husband is just trying to protect his assets.
