My best job was teaching (secondary maths) because of the energy, vitality, dedication and sense of fun exhibited by the young people I had the privilege to work with.

My worst job was also teaching because of the bureaucracy, politics, pointless meetings, lack of support from senior staff, etc.

Chris
My worst ever job (and I worked as a temp for a year so I've had a lot) was working for the company with the Golden Arches. I was older than three-quarters of the management, which considering I was only 21 at the time is quite an achievement. The shortest shift on offer was 10 hours and I was once forced to take my hour break 2 hours into a shift. The staff were completely incompetant and fart jokes were the pinnacle of wit. I was constantly stiffed with the late shift because I was over 18, this meant finishing at 1am.
Needless to say, I quit after 3 weeks.

I am yet to find my best job.

Not exactly a job but the best was when I was a volunteer for for a famous london charity that helps the homeless, we went around the city talking to the homeless promoting the shelter as well as help cook and serve the food for them. Even though it was brief and there was no money I really felt I made a difference and changed a lot of my attitudes toward society.

The worst was when I worked for a very famous Chemist chain to get me through uni. The Manager was close to being a con-man, the staff I worked with were weird and they gave me the most unenviable tasks.
BEST JOB EVER was a video shop. i was on my own so could watch movies, read etc. unnfortunately most of my wages went on popcorn and ice cream!
worst was a customer service job, loads of abuse from customers, though they had a point as the company's products were quite poor
Worst job was working as a waitress in a pizza restaurant. All the staff talked about me behind my back and I never did fit in. I quit after 4 weeks.

Best job was well I don't know really. Haven't particularly enjoyed any of my jobs if I'm honest. But for day-to-day variation/interest I'd have to say my role as a P.A.

Best job - the membership secretary for a yacht club on the Isle of Wight, great characters & great perks!! I only left because I had to relocate back to the mainland.

Worse job - customer service advisor for a well known Scandinavian assurance company, loads of would be bitches trying to make a name for themselves! I lasted there a year before telling them whewre to shove it!
Sorry missed this question when originally posted.

Chris is right though - teaching! 31 years of loving it and hating it.
Best: General Manager of a plastics manufacturing company.

Worst: Working for a collection agency - it was so bad that when they wanted me to take the job of Manager at a branch of the company I quit altogether.
My worst job is working as a barmaid at a pub, a very busy night club and then a hotel. I really hated it and didn't stick at it anywhere for long.

My best job was working as an animal care tech. Really good money, I was on my own and I could do as I pleased all day.
My worst job was when I started the fishing as cook on a herring drifter .I was only 15 & for breakfast I had to clean and fry 30 herring every morning it was hell. I suppose the best was before I retired I was Skipper of a trawler for 10 years
My best job is my job now... I am a Director of several companies and enjoy an immensely varied day, every day. I have the benefit of very well trained and motivated staff and life seems perfect in every possible way.

However, just seven years ago, I was doing my worst ever job. I was cleaning vomit and sh*t out of phone boxes in Oxford. This was a horrible job that came with little or no dignity - I even had party goers p*ss in the phonebox in front of me, just for fun!! Bless them, bet If I saw them now I would be asked if I want to "Go large with that" ! haha

I did this job as I needed a vehicle to get to interviews and they provided a bar-fly infested fiesta van that got me to my interviews and, in time, set me on the path to where I now find myself.

Worst job is the one I have got now.. Call centre staff for a major breakdown company. Loads of abuse, no support form managers and terminally tedious..

Best job was when I used to work for a book shop and could spend all day reading the stock.. Shame it was only a temporary outlet and closed down after a few months
Worst Job: working as estate agent for Shipways. No support, no motivation, no career path.

Best Jobs: Teaching music to young people with learning disabilities, and climbing up a water tower with vertigo and 25 adults from mencap, pukka
