Due to a house purchase i will shortly be needing to transfer around 16 grand from a current account with Natwest to my solicitor. Do i need to go into the branch or can i do it over the phone and is there likely to be a charge by the bank?

Ask your solicitor for the sort code and account number that the money should go into.
It may depend what kind of account you have and if it is set up with password and pin no for phone or internet banking.
There should be a phone number on your statement so you can find out / set it up if pos.
Some transfers are free but take 3 or more working days to clear, other may be quicker but have a charge (25 ish).

It all depends on the conditions of your account, phone them in good time and find out.
Ask your solicitor if you will receive interest while the money is in his account My experience is that they don't give you it unless you ask.
Do you normally use internet banking? If so, you could do it this way. You just need your solicitors bank details. Otherwise I dancecaller has covered it : )

thanks very much!!!
I just transferred 25 grand from the royal bank to the sellers solicitors bank account at another bank. It was The solicitors own account with a sub account called client account no... I could have got a bankers draft and paid it into the account myself but that was a tenner. Instead my bank did it electronically and it cost 4 quid easy.
