Is it profitable for me to invest $5000 in a cd account over a period of 6 months at 5% interest.Thanks (teamweex)

Profitable in relation to what? What's a cd account anyway?
You can get 5% interest anywhere - even instant access accounts, such as this one which offers 5.15%:

So no, I would bother with the Certificate of Deposit account unless you can get a much better interest rate.
CDs rely on getting a 'capital gain 'from being more valuable if rates move down form when they were issued. A bit like Gilts.
If you are not expert in this field keep out and stay with deposits!
