we moved into a property 6 months ago with a good credit score but since moving in we cant get credit,the new house has been bombarded with debts and balliffs for previous owners can this be the reason why we are unable to get credit ,we dont owe anyone other than our mortage which is paid on time every month

No the previous owners debts can't affect you ( they used to but the law was changed).


You need to get hold of a copy of your credit file to see what the problem is.


The two main things that spring to mind are someone at your old address getting hold of account details from junk mail and ordering in your name. The other is not informing the electoral register that you've moved?

I would agree - the biggest cause of being rejected for credit is not being on Voters Role.

thanks i have applied for my experian credit report and i have only just filled form in for electrol register to be updated,the previous people are still registering there cars with dvla and ive been told there is nothing i can do about it ?
