So it seems, Abbey , that you haven't been underpaid after all. Unfortunately there may be no big tax rebate to help boost your finances, so your focus now has to be on finding a full time job or a second part time job, and cutting back on spending including takeaways, nails, bottomless brunches and driving lessons for the forseeable future

What if he don't want to go on a 2nd but don't want to say

What will be will be. You might save some money. You'll be no further away from finding a partner than you were a few weeks ago.

He said he wanted to see me again  and had to cancel last week. Hooe he would stop talking to me otherwise

So it's obviously more important that you find out about your one-date wonder than try and sort out your finances or job prospects. Right ho!

Abbey, it sounds as if you're talking yourself into scenarios- he wants to see me, he doesn't want to see me... Your constant fretting will get you nowhere,  and it's a bit intense for such a new... relationship is perhaps too definite a word! Can you not calm yourself down a bit and just wait to see what happens/doesn't happen?

Abbey, this question is in Business and Finance because you originally asked how you could get money.... quickly. If you're going to focus on the boyfriend/possible boyfriend, maybe  you should use a different category now?

... or perhaps you could take your mind off him and answer some of the questions you've been asked eg Newmodaelarmy's post at 15.46 today - very relevant.

Sorry sometimes I don't have to reply to everyone but no they won't up my pay and tax office might be better as I can't get through to them

How many times did you try and did you wait on the phone for an advisor?

Abbey, I was 35 minutes waiting to speak to someone at HMRC today. There is always quite a wait. Remember and have your National Insurance number ready. It's the first thing they ask for.

Good luck.

"they won't up my pay"?

Did you ask why you're working 21 hours but only getting paid for around 14?

^ ask the agency, not HMRC

Abbey, it might take up some time, but you could perhaps write down all the jobs you've had since 6th April 2023. That will help when you speak to HMRC - and it's more useful than faffing around worrying if a man doesn't contact you!

Or set up an online HMRC account using redhelen's link and you should see all the employers, start and finish dates, earnings and tax paid, so you can check the details and tell them if anything looks wrong-  e.g. if they are showing you as still working for a place that didn't give you a p45.

Are you sure your contract is for 21 paid hours Abbey? Lunchtimes are not usually paid and some breaks are unpaid too. What time do you start and finish and how long is your lunch break?

You have confirmed several times you are employed by the cleaning company and not the agency. Are you absolutely certain?

Have you asked any colleagues whether they receive payslips?

You are all throwing information at Abbey that she obviously finds hard to process.

You don't have to keep the thread going or keep asking questions, just leave it to those who are more sympathetic and realise she is not like a lot of people and certainly does not react in the way many others do, and has different priorities.

Lankeela, whilst I agree with you the other posters are genuinely trying to help Abbey.

She thinks that she has been underpaid but  she really needs to work out when and what she was paid ( her bank statement) and her record of employers and periods of employment.
