Seeing the sports news on tv this morning, the football stadiums are crammed full. So hard times is really hard to believe.

The two do not relate.
that's just like saying "i saw a plane in the sky yesterday, therefore clearly no-one is having a cost of living problem"
well one day we are fatties the next no one can afford a spam sandwich! Meeja init...!
I think a ticket for the top matches costs more than 50 pounds. A lot of supporters who'd like to watch their local team couldn't at that price.
I think you probably need a reasonable level of income to afford to go to football matches weekly. So the people you saw probably aren't struggling.
And many will have purchased season tickets at discount prices last June/July.
My lot have already sold 12,000 for next season - and that's before we know what division we'll be playing in.

Just asking because I couldn't see any areas with empty seats, in fact you would have a job lifting your elbow to eat a sausage roll.

Regarding the plane in the sky, I can't see how many are on that, but all the matches on tv showed thousands at each match.
Also can't see how they don't relate?

I thought everyone was struggling with the cost of living?
i'm not (yet)
Sausage rolls, prawn sandwiches, surely?

Well I suppose it keeps the waggs in nail varnish and the odd court case.
I'm happy to say that I am not struggling with the cost of living even though my electricity bills are horrendous.
I'm sure there are many ordinary people like me - always lived within my means, paid off my mortgage some years ago, no debts and no expensive new car sat on the driveway.
I really feel for those that are struggling.
How many of those struggling have got a houseful of kids too? No doubt many still smoke as well. I see my neighbour with her kid in trainers falling off his feet but she always has a fag in her mouth.
It's like a witch hunt!
I'm pleased there are people that can still afford a little luxury in life. Sad for the many that can't..
While we are all affected by price rises, the ones affected the most are those who rely on benefits - unemployed, disabled, pensioners, etc. The majority who can afford to attend football matches on a regular basis are most likely to be in full time employment.
That's why i said the two don't relate.
Are those on benefits not getting what they need in the way of help with rent etc? Certainly all the pensioners I know including myself are living quite comfortably.
Heat your food, then you can have both !
It is my experience that many of those on benefits are budgeted to the hilt. With energy bills set to soar beyond belief and food prices rising week by week, isn't it obvious that those people are going to struggle?

I'm just thinking what the media spin is not how it seems to be. We are told that the cost of living will hit everyone hard. That don't seem to be the case looking at full football stadiums.

Or could it be, football, pub, fags, drugs, eating heating.
//Are those on benefits not getting what they need in the way of help with rent etc? //
They may still receive the amount of housing benefit they did before, but that does not help pay the increased costs of heating or food.
