Most foyers in business premises have a plaque with their "mission Statement"

These are made up at a high level board meeting, lasting mostly all day.

They usually contain the following amongst other bold claims.

" We are totally dedicated to customer satisfaction"

On the BT home e-mail page, their logo is "Beyond Limits" Now, that is a good trick.

In our local Home Bargains store their is a sign behind the checkouts saying "If there are more than four in the queue we should open another till"

Not we WILL open another till.

Spelt there wrong , groan.
I don't think you did? There does seem to be a bit of a fashion for short statements, which make no sense at all...
If it sounds good on the surface, that seems to be good enough...
They're just an exercise in self-congratulations.
We once spent most of a training day, in a school, deciding on a 'mission statement', they were flavour of the month. The one selected was the one written on the back of an envelope by the Head the day before!
The charity I work for has a new website that is loaded with modern platitudes. I hate it. I'd much rather see gritty black and white photos of our clients and the conditions they struggle in. That to me would say more about any success we may have helping them to move on.

actually, more likely at a meeting of middle ranking staff, whose attendance is mandatory. the CEO will usually send out an invitation to get everyone fired up...… and then on the day the "top table" executives find themselves unavoidably called away to a client meeting, leaving the session in the hands of a group of lackeys who have no knowledge of the concept and even less commitment.
