That you just don't know the words to but resonate with the tune anyway?
Cant speak German but just love this upbeat tune anyway.

Love the 'primal' feel of it as well.....

Yes, everytime I go on holiday :-)
Love Edith Piaf.....have to say I don't understand some of the lyrics but I love her voice and the sadness she often portrays.
For me it’s Yuma sumac some voice, don’t understand one word.

Charles Aznavour - Yesterday. Fantastic in any language, his voice sent shivers down my spine. RIP Charles
Yep 99 luft bolons and on holiday etc... but when in Scotland... I'm sure they're trying to sing in English not celtic or gaelic... I've not had a clue what they're on about.
This is what like a song in English with an American accent sounds to Italians.
It's called "Prisencolinensinainciusol"

As a fan of world music, who spends many hours every day listening to tracks on Youtube, I can confidently say that the majority of songs I listen to are in foreign languages.

I love that track, Nailit. To me, it's reminiscent of some of the Gaelic songs of Capercaillie. You don't need any German to work out that it's celebrating Walpurgis Night. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpurgis_Night ). However Google translates the full lyrics as follows:

"Get in the evening sky
Tonight the magic ways
Wild people and Lilith's art
Lurking winds, secretly driving

Let's roam the fires
Murmuring for the stars
Good and bad word
Let's carry on today and on

In the pastures our dreams will sound
And the winds will sing our songs
Let's jump over the fire with the sparks
In the Walpurgis Night

Eh oh, hear the violins, hear the violins
Eh oh, the fires are kindled
Eh oh, follow the dance, follow the dance
In the Walpurgis Night

Impetuous in the game of violins
Turning our nocturnal 'dance
And we kick wild and free
Add to this old magic

Once only in a big circle
Let's dance that way
Until the first morning light
Our dream fabric breaks

In the pastures our dreams will sound
And the winds will sing our songs
Let's jump over the fire with the sparks
In the Walpurgis Night

Eh oh, hear the violins, hear the violins
Eh oh, the fires are kindled
Eh oh, follow the dance, follow the dance
In the Walpurgis Night

Eh oh, hear the violins, hear the violins
Eh oh, the fires are kindled
Eh oh, follow the dance, follow the dance
In the Walpurgis Night"
Some Capercaillie for you:

I confess Chris, I did google the lyrics :-)…..
La Mer by Charles Trenet makes me go weak at the knees!
This one always makes me dance...

This song ('Esta Vez', from the superb Mexican group Café Tacvba) is one of my all-time favourites. It starts off quietly but builds to totally envelope the listener in its sheer power.

Musical brilliance!

I love Mory Kante too, Toorak.

The track you've chosen was a Number 1 hit in Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Spain, which suggests that the rest of Europe is more ready to embrace world music than the UK is!
Yes, here's one of my favourites - German sung here by Japanese.
Makes me want to take off all my clothes and run outside, then run back in to get my inhaler, then run outside again, and knowing my luck, bump into Alison next door, and say, "Hi there Ally, just putting my bin out!" Then run back in to hide behind the front door until she has gone, and then, and then, oh heck the records finished!
I agree!

Here’s another that was a huge European hit (Italian this time) but not in the uk

The Walpurgis song is delightful.
This guy does it for me - even better when Scott Walker covered a lot of Brel's work in English so I knew what the songs were about.
