A new one has opened nearby and I went in to have a look. It's surprising how the pounds can add up. I spent £7 on odds and ends. 80 self-sealing envelopes must be a bargain as must be 20 AA batteries, if they work.

They're not my first stop but yes, I have shopped there. I buy their envelopes and Werthers !
got this from the pound shop says the wife, it was only a quid

yes yes yes.. I buy lots of bits and bobs..sort of stuff I used to get at Woolies..
No never! full of crap, and the batteries only last 5 minutes, yes even the Duracell in my experience.

The branded soap powders etc are commercial quality and a far lower standard because of this.
I don't get into my town centre much now but, yes when I did I would often pop in and get a few bits.
My daughter shops there on a regular basis and has not found anything to complain about
I miss woollies. Bits and bobs for me too from them, especially drawing books and paper for the g.kids.
Aqueous cream is a bargain.Nearly £4 in other shops around here.

I considered a Bah Humbug Santa hat but decided against it. There's no sense in putting a damper on the seasonal festivities.
There are different Pound shops -Pound Land,Pound Stretcher (things are not all a pound in there) . I find the actually 'everything a pound' shops can sometimes be more expensive than stuff in supermarkets so you have to be careful. I buy lots of stuff in Pound stretcher, especially stuff for my business -brown wrapping paper, tape, envelopes and they are all good. I've bought batteries in there that are pretty crap to be honest but other than that no complaints.
Only when there's a sale on...
Not much at all. As I rarely have cash on me Ive felt obliged to grab enough stuff to warrant paying with a card which defeats the object somewhat.
Yep, love it, most of my Christmas decorations are from there for a start :-)
sandy...don't expect the batteries to perform well, unless it's in low-drain devices like clocks, remote controls because they are zinc chloride type. For other uses, buy the alkaline batteries...usually 6 for £1. Not as long-lasting as big brands...but still good value.
Had a sore ankle and needed some support, bought an ankle support from a pound shop not really thinking it would do much good. WRONG!! As soon as I put it on my ankle felt tons better, and soon healed. Good buy.
I shopped in Poundland here in Penzance yesterday and found it remarkable value. I bought one squeaky dog toy, one stuffed puppy dog toy, plus a box of Brandy liqueur chocolates, and guess what....£3:00 !

Never been in one,
are they expensive?
Mikey, don't give the liqueurs to the dog!
Use regularly much cheaper than lots of supermarkets for some goods. I use Branston beans and in Asda they are 55p per tin. Poundstretcher has them at 3 tins for £1. Great value.
Mikey - the squeaky toys will give you something to get your teeth into at Christmas xx
