I've put £20 on Man City and Chelsea to draw tonight, and they gave me 3/1 !!

That's just like free money, isn't it? It has to be a draw.

Should I cut and paste this into the Sports section?

Thinks, thinks ...

good luck jj
3-1 to MC.
JJ.........the 3/1 is the score NOT the odds...;-
I hope you're right JJ
Good Luck

4-1 Man City - odds on that are?
Question Author
Dunno. I didn't ask about those.

I've got a load of odds for Team GB Golds in the Winter Games. I'll put those on the Winter Games thread.
DTC word fan; odds for a 4-1 result to City are 28/1 with Betfred. Personally i think they'll struggle.....................................to get more than 2 and have gone 2-1 @ 15/2. Now if Aguero had been fit, that 28/1 would have been very tempting.
jj; who gave you 3/1. I've just consulted oddschecker and the best i can find is 27/10 with stanjames
Bet Wenger wishes you are right jj.

I got it down in the town, Ken

Surely 27/10 is almost 3/1 ?

Local bookings always round up, don't they? They look at the odds on the screen, and then say, okay I'll give you 3/1.

Local bookies

Local bookies

If I type it enough times, the stupid iPad might learn.
I do all my bets on line, jj. Unfortunately they are not as generous as 'local' bookies. Although i would be extremely wary of a booky being generous:-)
^^^

Forgot to add that the difference between 3/1 and 27/10 on a £20 bet is £6.
I dunno - i think i'm one of the few people who dont understand betting odds ( not that i've tried )
Question Author
I never bet online.

I don't know enough about it.

I like the social aspect of getting a Starbucks, and then sitting in the betting shop, filling in the little slips, and having a chat with the guys in the shop, and the old blokes who've always got a "good" tip or two, and then going back to let the cashier sort through all my slips and tell me if I've won anything. It's jolly.

Question Author
Isn't the difference £9 ?
Question Author
No, hang on ...

Oh, god, shows how much I know.

:0(
It's quite basic, really. The figure on the right is the amount you will need to wager in order to profit by the figure on the left. Therefore jj's £20 will profit by 3 times that amount if successful so she will receive £80. Simples:-)
Question Author
// she will receive £80 //

Of which £20 is the return of my original stake.

And the rest is free money.

QED
If only confidence guaranteed success, eh, jj? The best of luck:-)
