There is an article every week highlighting news from this week over a number of years. One item today has me puzzled.
1951. A local collier pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court for using a nine foot long piece of wood, valued at two shillings , as a walking stick.
What had he done wrong? It didn't mention what happened to him.

It was amaxing what people got up to - and the naughty things they did.

I was stopped by the police for riding a bicycle that was too big for me - clearly I was gonna grow into it - and taken home by them
and the cvillage talked about it for weeks.
Perhaps ii was a pit prop he had 'acquired'
