There's going to be no shops left in our high streets at this rate!
Question Author
You're right, even the numerous charity shops that appeared in recent years are welcome these days

Now that the list has been released, I hope that the 2 HMV stores that I frequent will start to sell new releases again soon.
............ and your question was what?

Question Author
it's as much of a question as using the news topic to report a dead slug in one's garden
dorothy perkins, watch this space
I read somewhere that Mothercare was looking dodgy. We have recently lost a Jessops (which I had walked past countless times and don't know it was there) and a Comet. Think our Blockbusters is still there and we are keeping our HMV (but that might be because we lost Game next door, which is near to the JJB Sports which has gone).
They're closing 5 stores in Edinburgh? Did they need so many to begin with?
One, in the centre of Belfast, will stay open, all the others in NI will close. How can it survive?
Question Author
yes, 5 does seem a tad excessive
there will be one in any large shopping centre, glasgow is losing 3, the preston one is staying, it's huge.
Manchester Market Street is a large store and that one is closing. Such a shame, they have fantastic staff in there, always so knowledgeable and friendly and helpful.
Brighton and Oxford Street survive.

My music collection is okay, for now.
Anyone know about online store ?
//Anyone know about online store ?//

Isn't that what's caused the closure of all the high street shops??
The Teesside one is part of the Teesside Park out-of-town retail unit, which is still in Stockton-on-Tees. At least we still have the Middlesbrough branch.

It's very sad.
My local one is on the list. I was in twice at the weekend. My favourite shop! I could spend ages in HMV. I'm going to miss it :(
No Joggerjayne, out of town retail parks with vast amounts of free parking, along with intolerably high business rates killed our high streets.
The internet just infiltrated the cracks.
Their online was much cheaper jj...
They even undercut themselves??
Yeah, up to a point, Mojo.

But I don't know many people who buy CDs and books at out of town retail parks.

I know a lot of people who buy them online, or buy electronic downloads.
