I loaned an amount of money to a friend on the understanding it would be paid back within six months. It hasnt been and i am looking at how i can recover the money. Small Claims Court are saying i have no proof it was a loan as it was a "gentlemans agreement". Any ideas on how i can collect this money?

As a solicitor, I would recommend that you take advice from a solicitor as it is very difficult to advise you from the limited information available.
There is no Small Claims Court. I assume you are referrring to the County Court, County Court staff are not allowed to give advice on the merit of your claim. All that you are saying is that it depends on who the judge believes.
